The Seven Sorrows Marian Crucifix (11" Cross) (Handmade)

The Seven Sorrows Marian Crucifix

Measuring 11 inches by 4 inches, the Seven Sorrows Marian Crucifix is one of my most simple yet profoundly elegant designs. Created in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows, this crucifix reflects her deep union with Christ’s suffering.

In this piece, Our Lord bears seven distinct wounds: the crown of thorns, His hands and feet, His knees, His shoulders, His back, and His pierced side. Each wound serves as a meditation on the sorrows of Mary, who shared in the suffering of her Son with perfect love and fidelity.

The garment of Christ is highlighted with Marian blue, symbolizing the Blessed Mother’s compassion and presence at the foot of the Cross. The crown of thorns is delicately accented with gold, signifying both the suffering and kingship of Our Lord. Above the corpus rests a simple INRI sign, also highlighted in blue to harmonize with the garment and draw the eye toward the title of Christ the King.

Every crucifix from Memento Christi is crafted with devotion and care. The cross is made from reclaimed wood, carefully restored to highlight its natural beauty and character. This reclaimed wood carries its own theological significance: Christian tradition teaches that all created things are ordered toward their highest purpose—to glorify God. By taking wood that once served an ordinary role and transforming it into a sacred object, we allow it to participate in its highest end: bearing the image of the Crucified Lord. What was once discarded is given new life, raised to its noblest purpose in the service of sacred art.

The corpus is originally sculpted by hand, 3D scanned, resin printed, and hand-painted to achieve lifelike detail. Each piece is assembled and finished by hand, ensuring no two crucifixes are ever the same.

The clean, understated design of the cross allows the sacred figure of Christ to remain the focus, inviting prayer and reflection. This crucifix stands as both a symbol of devotion and a reminder of the redemptive power of suffering borne in love—where love itself is perfected through the Cross.
